HIGH ROAD RABBITRY SURVIVES HURRICANE IRENE
My rabbitry is located in New Haven County, CT. where severe storm damage was sustained from Hurricane Irene on August 28, 2011. As the storm moved closer and became more of a threat, I became more concerned that the barn in which my rabbitry is housed would not stand the high winds and rain. In 19 hours, 97 rabbits, plus litters were moved from the barn to a safer location in a truck repair shop. Rabbits were moved into temporary carriers, placed on wood palates, and set up in their emergency shelter. Though chaos reined for much of 2 days, the barn withstood the hurricane, except some roof damage, and all my rabbits safely returned. The help I received from friends was enormous. I would never have been able to move so many bunnies alone! Here are a few pictures to share of High Road Rabbitry and our emergency evacuation.
